Quick answer
We straighten, re-hang and re-hardware sagging or dragging gates — timber, metal, side gates, front gates and courtyard gates. We fix the root cause (usually a post or hinge problem) so it stays fixed.
What we do
Side gates, front gates, courtyard gates.
- ✓Hinge replacement and re-hanging
- ✓New latches, bolts and drop pins
- ✓Sagging timber gate straightening
- ✓Post repairs and re-setting
- ✓Metal gate weld checks and repairs
- ✓Self-closing hinges for pool compliance
- ✓Painting and timber treatment
- ✓New gates built to match the fence
How we work
Fix the root cause, not just the symptom.
A gate that drags is usually a post problem, not a hinge problem. We check the post, the rails and the hardware together, then put the right fix in place so the gate keeps working long after we leave.

FAQ · Gate Repairs
Common questions from local clients.
Q.Why does my gate keep dragging?
Usually a loose or rotten post, not the hinge. We check the post first and only replace hardware once the frame is solid.
Q.Can you fit self-closing hinges for pool compliance?
Yes. We fit compliant self-closing hinges and magnetic latches for pool gates and can quote the whole compliance sign-off.
Q.Do you build new gates?
Yes. Simple timber and metal gates built to match your existing fence, painted or stained to suit.
Q.How much does a handyman cost in Sydney's Inner West?
Pricing depends on the job. Small one-hour fixes start from around $110, while bigger jobs are quoted per project. Quotes are always free and given in writing before any work starts.
Q.Do you charge a callout fee?
No standard callout fee for booked jobs. If you just need a look and quote for a larger job we come out for free within our Inner West service area.
Q.Are you insured and qualified?
Yes. We carry full public liability insurance and only use licensed trades for any electrical or plumbing work that falls outside general handyman scope.
Q.Which suburbs do you cover?
Newtown, Marrickville, Leichhardt, Enmore, Stanmore, Petersham, Dulwich Hill and the surrounding Inner West. Ask if your suburb isn't listed, we usually still cover it.
